Discover the latest collection of colored pencils from Derwent: the Chromaflow series. Derwent Chromaflow are classic wax-based colored pencils with a broad and rich palette of premium colors. Chromaflow colors are highly pigmented and very easy to blend for velvety smooth transitions and shades, even on colored and black paper.

While other Derwent colored pencils have a thick casing and core, Chromaflow has a Slimline core/tip. The core is pleasantly soft yet very break-resistant and only 3.5 mm in diameter. The thin casing makes them comfortable to hold and, depending on your preferences and anatomy, helps prevent cramping. Moreover, with this casing, you don't have to worry about them being too large for a standard sharpener. The black pencil bodies are made of wood, round in shape, and color-coded. The pencils come in a practical tin storage box.

What is the difference compared to other Derwent pencils?
All Derwent pencils are of high quality and highly pigmented, including Chromaflow. However, there are differences in the hardness of the core, the color range of the series, the base (wax or oil), and the thickness of the pencil.

  • Chromaflow is a soft pencil, but significantly less soft than Derwent's well-known Coloursoft colored pencils. This offers the advantage that the paper saturates with wax less quickly, while you don't compromise on color intensity. This allows you to build many layers with different colors and create a lot of depth and color transitions.
  • This makes the Chromaflow series ideally suited for anyone who already has some experience in coloring with basic pencils and soft colored pencils and now wants to delve into technique and layering.
  • The series has a very extensive color palette.
  • The Chromaflow core is wax-based and can be blended with (odorless) turpentine, although the colors blend beautifully with each other even without solvents.
